The production lab teaches the activation equation behind cyclotron and reactor isotope production: production rate from beam current, target and cross section, saturation, end-of-bombardment activity and cooling.
Key features
- Production rate from beam current and cross section
- Saturation factor and end-of-bombardment activity
- Cooling and decay after bombardment
Frequently asked questions
Why does irradiating longer give diminishing returns?
Activity approaches saturation as production and decay balance. After about two to three half-lives of irradiation, extra beam time adds little activity.
